WHAT DOES A CREATIVE TECHNOLOGIST ACTUALLY DO?

The truth is: I have always found the world of IT far too exciting to limit myself to this one tool, this one programming language, this one industry.

Because my greatest strength is assessing, thinking up and combining technical possibilities. Where others say “That’s not possible” or “I don’t know!”, my comfort zone begins.

And so in my professional career I often had the role of creative thinker, initiator and change maker.

The child has had a name “Creative Technologist” for several years now. Because the term combines everything I stand for: creative thinking, curious tinkering, technical expertise and enthusiastic making things happen.

This enthusiasm has resulted in many great things over the last 25 years, some of which you can see in my portfolio.

MY PATH FROM IT TO AI

AMBITION

I started programming out of necessity when I was 10 years old. I actually wanted a game with my first computer (a C64). But thank God it wasn’t until six months later for my birthday and so my computer couldn’t do anything except blink. Out of sheer boredom, I programmed like there was no tomorrow.

During my time at school and during my studies, I programmed wildly in all sorts of programming languages with great enthusiasm. Until one day I realized: Computers are just calculators and can therefore only solve mathematical problems. However, with AI methods, this restriction no longer applies.

Because I wanted to be able to solve all problems with computers, I decided to do a doctorate in AI after studying computer science. Out of sheer enthusiasm, I continued researching for a few more years.

Mobile developer and UX designer at Yocoy (a provider of mobile, multilingual dialogue systems)
Founder and one of the developers of the Matecloud social media platform
